This polygon spatial dataset describes soils and landscapes in the Gunn Point Area, north of Darwin in the Northern Territory.
The primary purpose of the investigation was to map, describe and evaluate soil and landscapes to inform future development. Core landform and soil attributes attached to the land units are included with the spatial dataset. The area was mapped at a scale of 1:25,000. The acid soil component was sourced from existing information mapped at a scale of 1:50,000.
The extent of the Gunn Point Area covers approximated 70,800 ha. and is defined by the Howard Water Allocation Planning Areas north of Gunn Point Road to the coastline.
Vegetation attributes were not included in this dataset.

This information was compiled as part of the Mapping the Future Project - Gunn Point
This project has identified land capability, water availability and biodiversity values to support land planning and inform development potential over the Gunn Point area.
