Land Capability Mapping in the Katherine Vicinity

The spatial data is a refinement and extension of the LEVEE_25 mapping (refer to Soil Survey and Capability Assessment of the Upper Katherine River Area for Irrigated Horticulture). It is, however, a new dataset and should be treated as such. Land Capability Mapping in the Katherine Vicinity (NRETAS Survey ID reference: KRURA_25) contains two attributes. These are Agricultural Land Capability and Soil Drainage. The mapping was undertaken to assist planners protect agricultural land while allowing subdivision of land suitable for peri-urban living. The mapped area covers 486km2 and is predominantly 3.4km either side of the Katherine River near the Katherine township.
