Land Systems South Alice Springs District

Reconnaissance level survey (1:250,000 dataset) broadly describing landform, soils and vegetation to map and describe the pastorally important areas of the Southern Alice Springs District of the Northern Territory. The mapped information describes associated patterns/land systems as distinct from higher resolution mapping. Information is intended for use in broadly assessing land-use potential and is usually interpreted to indicate land capability for a range of land uses and provides a basis for identifying the extent and distrbution of land resources for the Southern Alice Springs District. (Land System defintion - An area or group of areas throughout which there is a re-recurring pattern of topography, soils and vegetation. Recognised as being an assemblage of Land Units).
