Land Units Knox Creek Plain, WA and NT

This spatial dataset, KNOXC_25, describes the plain between Knox Creek in Western Australia and the Keep River in Northern Territory. The surveyed area covers 120.61 km2 is is located 30km north-east of Kununurra and referred to as the Knox Creek Plain. The purpose of the survey was to provide soil and landscape information for assessment of the suitability of part of the Knox Creek Plain for irrigated agriculture, and to assist planning for possible expansion of the Ord River Irrigation Area. 17 LAND UNITS were identified and their soils, landform and vegetation characteristics were described at a survey scale of 1:25 000. The original land resource survey was undertaken in 1994 as a cooperative project with teams from both Western Australia and the Nothern Territory governments. Additional survey work undertaken in 1998 in the southern part of the survey area.
