Lands of the Alice Springs Area

Is a reconnaissance level land resource survey (scale 1:1,000,000) conducted by CSIRO in 1956/57 to map and describe the settled country in the Alice Springs pastoral district. The mapped information covers 373,000km2 in central Australia. The 88 land systems are described in terms of their relative area, landforms, soils and plant communities. General descriptions are given for the location, geology and geomorphology, climate and water resources of the land systems.
