Soils Upper Adelaide River Floodplain

This spatial dataset provides land resource information on the map unit boundaries of the Soils of part of the Upper Adelaide River Floodplain, Northern Territory. The purpose of the survey was to indentify and delineate soils suitable for establishment of a rice project farm in an area thought to have high potential for rice production. The survey area, originally known as Tortilla Flats, covers 38 km2 and is located approximately 90 km south of Darwin between the Adelaide River and Whitestone Creek to the west. The original field survey was undertaken in 1982 at a mapping scale of 1:25,000.
