The Land Resources of Larapinta Valley and the Undoolya Area, Alice Springs

This polygon spatial data set provides information on the land unit boundaries of the Eastern Sector of the Larapinta Valley and Undoolya area of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, and describes dominant landform, soils and vegetation of the area. The Larapinta Valley survey area encompasses 10.8km2 and is located immediately to the west of Alice Springs. The Undoolya survey area encompasses 25km2 and is located 5km to the east of Alice Springs.

The original field survey was undertaken in 1978, and was completed at a mapping scale of 1:10,000.

Core attributes describing the land units, as defined by the department, were added to the spatial data set in October of 2025.
